English language education at secondary schools in Japan: Today and into the future
Friday, 1:15 pm - 4:00 pm, Main Hall - OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Sponsored by GTEC for Students
An action plan to cultivate “Japanese with English Abilities” was implemented by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in 2003. The SELHi (Super English Language High School) project has been prominent in this plan and various activities and trials have taken place. The panel will discuss results achieved so far and a new proposed English curriculum that emphasizes communication. It will also make suggestions for the future. Anyone who is interested in English language education at the secondary school level in Japan is most welcome to attend. Simultaneous interpretation will be available.
