Pre-conference and Featured Speaker Workshops
Each year, JALT organizes a number of workshops, both pre- and post-conference, aimed at helping conference attendees develop their professional skills. These workshops are charged separately to the main conference, and places are limited.
Pre-conference Skills-up Workshops
For JALT2007, we will be running two "Skills-up" workshops on Thursday, Nov 22nd from 1 pm to 5 pm. The purpose of these workshops is to help participants improve their computer skills. The novice workshop will have sessions on PowerPoint, the Moodle Learning Management System, and digital video; while in the concurrent non-novice workshop participants will look at the statistical analysis package SPSS, talk about getting the most out of Microsoft Word & Excel, and have a session on Moodle. Each workshop is limited to 25 participants, and costs 4,000 yen for JALT members, or 5,000 yen for non-members.
Featured Speaker Workshops
Featured speaker workshops, which are sponsored by our Associate Members, present the best that our profession currently has to offer. Presenters are often either widely published materials developers or scholars running low-volume interactive workshops with a high degree of audience participation. This year we will be running pre-conference workshops on Thursday 22nd from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, and post-conference sessions on Sunday 25th from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Seating is limited to 40 participants—register early to avoid disappointment. Featured speaker workshops are charged at 4,000 yen for JALT members, or 5,000 for non-members, with "early bird" discounts available for those pre-registering for the full conference. See the Conference registration page for details.
